More than 50 Nigerian embassies across the globe are without ambassadors since 2015.
The nonappointment of ambassadors to the affected countries is said to have robbed Nigeria of enormous diplomatic, bilateral and multilateral business gains.
African News gathered from a reliable source that the delay in appointing new ambassadors was as a result of the nonchalant and lackadaisical attitude of the present administration.
Countries from four continents are mainly affected by this inadequacy which had also impacted negatively on the image of Nigeria and Nigerians living in those countries.
Meanwhile, due to criticism from the international community and the diplomatic circles, the president in order to save his face, last week Thursday, sent names of 47 Nigerians to the Senate for consideration and approval as ambassadors to the countries.
The letter which was read by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki during plenary session, came after one year in office of the current administration.
Names submitted by president Buhari to the senate are mostly career diplomats.
