Nigerians Resident In Sweden, Norway, Finland And Denmark Urged To Register Their Names With The Nigerian Embassy In Order To Be Eligible To Vote In Future Nigeria’s Elections


Nigerian citizens resident in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark have been advised to register their names with the Nigerian embassy in Sweden so that they can exercise their franchise in future Nigeria’s elections.

The Nigerian Embassy in Stockholm which gave this advice announced that Nigerian nationals should either register online through the Embassy’s website at or collect a copy of the registration form at the Embassy.

The Embassy while stressing the importance of the exercise, disclosed in a press statement signed by Mrs Noamey Chika Nwachukwu, Senior Counsellor/ Head of Consular on behalf of  Mrs Jane Ada Ndem, Minister (In Charge) Stockholm, that the registration portal would generate an automatic number to every citizen that registers.

”The purpose of the registration is to carry out the statistics of Nigerian citizens outside the country and to be in preparedness for the anticipated new policies that will allow Nigerian citizens exercise their franchise during future elections” the statement added.

The Embassy also remarked that ”as from 1st December 2015; it will be mandatory to present evidence of registration as a citizen of Nigeria before the Embassy will entertain any request such as passport, visa, authentication, consular visits etc”

The diplomatic mission, however, reaffirmed its support and continued service delivery to Nigerians; especially those that are registered with the Embassy as Nigerian citizens.
