Togo dumps Tottenham striker: Emmanuel Adebayor

Tottenham Striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, has been dropped by his country for failing to respond to call-up for an African Cup qualifier with Djibouti on 4 September.

Togo’s national coach, Tom Saintfet, who likened Adebayor to ”a bad date” said he would not select the Tottenham striker.

According to him Adebayor failed to respond to a call-up for an African Cup qualifier with Djibouti which was played last week.

Saintfiet said: “If you are dating a woman who does not want to respond positively, then you must look for another woman.”

He disclosed that Adebayor failed to reply to Togo management regarding last week’s game by text message or email, according to Saintfiet.

“For me, it is clear that he is a player who does not want to play for his country anymore,” added Saintfiet.

The BBC reported that the striker threatened to miss the match after he was stripped of the captaincy of the club in June.

Adebayor is yet to feature for Spurs this season and has been left out of both their Premier League and Europa League squads.
